In the basement of the A-building hides a bandy star. Daren Richardson runs the Senior School Rec Room for IES Jönköping by day, but is transformed into an international bandy player at night. Mr Richardson comes from Minnesota in the USA and is a multiple international for the USA, having represented them at numerous world championships - he has even scored goals against Sweden during these matches!

This year Mr Richardson has transferred from Jönköping Bandy, which plays in Allsvenskan, to Eliteserien Vetlanda Bandy Klubb. He has made an immediate impact. In three matches so far this year he has been an ever-present player and been named man of the match in one game and been highly commended in the other two.

When asked about his bandy success, Mr Richardson said, 'It feels great to have reached the top level of Swedish bandy. It has been a lot of hard work and I plan to continue that work and become as good a player as I possibly can.'
