IES Nobel Prize winners
Monday, December 12, 2011 - 12:46pmKlara Larsson, 5B, gives a speech about Alfred NobelOn the morning of Friday 9th December, IES Junior School held their annual Nobelfika ceremony. Students and teachers came into school in their party clothes, eager to see who had won the prestigious Literature and Peace prizes. All classes gathered in the small lunch room that was specially decorated for the occasion.
The ceremony began with a speech by Mrs Mohlin about why participating and doing one's best was so important, then Klara Larsson in 5B stood up and told us about the life of Alfred Nobel. Next came the prizegiving with two awards for each class - a Literature Prize and a Peace Prize. The Literature Prize was judged from all the short stories that every student had written during their Swedish lessons. For the Peace Prize, all classes voted for the student that they thought was consistently a good friend and a good classmate.
From among many exciting stories (including bank robberies, romance, vampires and plane crashes!), the following authors from each class were selected for the Literature Prize:

When all the prizes had been handed out, the whole of Junior School enjoyed a delicious Nobelfika that was specially prepared by the school's kitchen. Then it was back to lessons, where the students could continue their journey towards one day winning a real Nobel prize.
