Testimonials

I arrived at IES half way through Year 4 and now I have started Year 5. I quickly made lots of nice friends. All the teachers here are really nice and they teach the students really well. I have learnt more here than I did at my old school. I think this school is the BEST! I just wish it also went up to Years 1, 2 and 3 for gymnasiet.

- Vanessa Abou Imad, student, 5B

IES is the best school we have ever been to. The staff is remarkable and all the students are working so hard. If there is one thing we have learned here, it is: hard work ---> success!

- Ken Dam Van and Samuel Alberius, students, 8C

This school has a positive and calm atmosphere that only makes us want to learn more. Going to school is no longer something I’m forced to do and that makes me try even harder.

The International English School in Jönköping has awesome teachers, a nice and fresh environment, good food and totally amazing students. The best thing with this school is that you get respect from everybody. The worst thing is that the days end so quickly… otherwise this school is perfect!

The reason I applied for the job at IES was that I love the idea that all people at this school, students and teachers, CHOSE to be here. We didn't just end up here because we live close by, but because we believe in the values of the school. I enjoy the atmosphere of so many different nationalities coming together in one place, and the fact that every single colleague of mine is enthusiastic and engaged in what they do.

- Therese Rosander, teacher, Junior School

I joined IES Jönköping in August 2009 before the school even opened its doors to students. In that time I have been able to see first hand the impact of the IES core values of 'academic excellence', 'bilingualism' and 'a calm and safe learning environment' in action and I am impressed by their effects on staff and students alike.

There are few schools where students do not want to go home at the end of their lessons but here at IES Jönköping I regularly have to ask students to leave the building at 5.00 because staff are going home and even then they are reluctant to go; they just like being here. The students frequently tell me that they enjoy learning here, they tell me that their teachers are inspirational and, at the end of Year 9, they tell me that they do not want to leave this school. The teachers feelings are the same. We all work hard together and we all have high expectations of ourselves and of each other.

I think that this is what sets IES Jönköping apart. Mutual respect and hard work get results, academic and social. If you enjoy learning you learn more effectively and this leads to learning more which in turn leads to greater enjoyment of learning, it's a virtuous circle. I will enjoy my sommarlöv but I'm already looking forward to meeting and teaching new students as well as those I have known since the school opened.
